Fresh denim

Nothing excites me more than fresh denim. From jeans to jackets, my excitement reaches an all time high (weird, I know lol).

My local mall recently acquired a UNI QLO shop and my boyfriend and I kinda went nuts in there. The shop originates in Japan but I am sooooo happy we finally have access to one here in the states. The quality of their clothing is unreal and the prices are even more unreal.

This denim jacket has to be the best I’ve ever had…the denim is perfect – not that cheap denim you normally find and definitely not the expensive/overpriced denim either. It’s the perfect medium and soft to the touch. I’m in LOVE.

Please check out UNI QLO’s website and see if they are your local mall. Thank me later sis 😉

Curry Crazy

Happy New Year!

Cannot believe 2017 is already here. So many goals to accomplish and I wish you all many blessings!

For my first blog of 2017, I wanted to show you my favorite recipe I’ve been cooking for the past few months – coconut chicken curry.

Believe it or not, I’ve only been to one Indian restaurant in my entire life but I’ve always loved the smell and taste of curry but wanted to put my own spin on it. I feel like I’ve perfected my recipe.

I added coconut milk because it adds a really subtle warmness and flavor to the bold, spiciness to the curry. I was lucky enough to score authentic Jamaican curry powder from the islands thanks to my parents- they visited Jamaica for a wedding and spices were my only request.

I also found a cute Jamaican spot off of Crenshaw Blvd where I scored some more curry powder – jackpot. I actually used both this time around and the result was awesome.

Recipe:

Prep time: 15 min         Cook time: 1 hour

  • 2lbs chicken breast
  • Red & green bell peppers, diced
  • Diced onion
  • Minced garlic
  • Potatoes, skinned & cubed
  • Curry powder (I don’t really measure how much lol I go by taste. Guessing, I probably use a couple tablespoons)
  • Water, about a cup
  • Coconut milk
  • Olive oil, two tablespoons
  1. First you want to sauté your veggies and garlic in olive oil just until your onions become transparent, then add your chicken
  2. Once your chicken is done, add your curry powder, water, and coconut milk to taste. You want it to look like the pic above.
  3. I cook mine on low for 45 minutes so the chicken becomes tender and the flavors mesh together perfectly. I also add Sriracha for more spice and corn starch if I feel the consistency isn’t right.

I like my curry nice and thick. Serve warm with white or brown rice.

Let me know if you try this hearty, warm dish for the winter!

Fall in Sac

This past October, I went home to visit family and had to take advantage of the beautiful scenery my hometown of Sacramento has to offer.

I promise I’ll get more amazing photos next time I go. I love this faux fur vest I bought years ago from StyleMint.com. Do you guys remember that site along with JewelMint created by the Olsen twins? I loved both sites but haven’t been on since 2012 LOL.

Fun fact: this was the side of my mom’s house lol the gate was such a pretty rustic color, I couldn’t resist!

Missing Fall

Sitting here reminiscing about Fall..my favorite season for style. Luckily for me, we still have some good, sunny days out here in LA (jealous much?)

So I can technically still get away with some Fall pieces here in the Winter months. More to come with how I incorporate my summer and Fall pieces in the colder weather.

Took this pic before me and bae headed to his mom’s comedy show (look up Cookie Hull, she’s hilarious) ❤️

Fat girl at heart

I am a lover of all things good, whether it be a nice at home cooked meal or a hip dive bar selling bomb food. I don’t discriminate!

For 2017, I promise to have better foodie posts and pics for you to be jelly off along with recipes from my own kitchen. For now, indulge in my food capades over this past year. Couldn’t have done it without my partner in crime, my boyfriend Karras.

First up, Taste on Melrose Ave.

We stumbled on this beauty while driving around Melrose fan girling over all the designer shops lol. Mimosas and pasta? Hell yea.

Next, is Bruxie in Chino Hills.

I actually read up on this spot in my hometown of Sacramento and it wasn’t until Karras bugged me to go, that’s when I finally tried it and loved it. Haven’t been in months but a trip is long over due. I’ve only tried the Original but I wasn’t too interested in the other combinations.

OK OK OK..if you don’t try this spot out, I can’t sit with you!! The Burger House in Pomona.

Shit is so fire, I had to put two pics LOL. I am a burger enthusiast. I could live off of burgers..that’s how pathetic I am. By far, me and Karras’s FAV burger joint right in the middle of downtown Pomona. It’s small and quaint but the burgers speak for themselves. Who puts a whole soft shell crab on top of a patty?! Their beers are local, quirky, and fresh off tap while still matching burgers on the menu. Just go!

I’m gonna end with dessert, duh. Cream in my hometown of Sacramento. I mean, you see the pic..waffle ice cream sandwich? Crazy good! Locations are in SoCal as well.

And CottonHi in DTLA. My best friend Jessica put me on to this place and it didn’t disappoint. Cotton candy on top of ice cream..WTF. Didn’t last 10 minutes!

Mellow Yellow

My outfits this past summer were very simple; crop top, high waist shorts, and some comfy tennis shoes. I lived in this style! It gets way too hot out here in LA to overdue it lol

My roommate asked me to go to Crenshaw with him so he could get a fresh haircut (any excuse to go to LA, I jump on it since I live more on the outskirts). Apart from finding some amazing curry powder from this cute authentic Jamaican mart, we also stumbled upon this dope bright yellow brick wall. It stopped me in my tracks, literally.

Needless to say, my roommate has bomb angles.

I miss my Havana twists!! Tutorial on them? Did them myself 😉

Loving myself like Kanye loves Kanye

Finally am putting something on here. Trust me, this is long over due lol. I’m taking this post back to October when I surprised my boyfriend with Kanye West tickets here in LA at the Forum.

Funny story tho!

Two days before, he texts me and tells me he got invited to go see Kanye. One of his friends couldn’t make it, so he gave him his ticket instead. I get super jealous and kinda cock block LOL (petty, I know) and he ends up telling his friends he can’t go.

Me feeling super bad, I decided to look online and low and behold, Kanye tickets! We had so much fun and I was so happy he had a great time. Luckily, we got Kanye on a good day and we were able to see his whole show (sorry Sactown).

I wanted my out fit to reflect my new style as well as a fun Halloween twist, hence the cat ears =) OBSESSED with my new F21 utility jacket btw, you’ll see more posts with me in it HA!
